Civo Service Women strengthened their Women’s NBM Premiership title challenge with a 3-2 victory over city rivals Silver Strikers Ladies at Silver Stadium on Saturday.

Vitumbiko Mercy Mkandawire scored twice in the first half as Civo took control of an entertaining Lilongwe derby.
Mkandawire opened the scoring in the 18th minute before doubling her side’s advantage three minutes before the break.
Silver Strikers reduced the deficit in first-half stoppage time through Madyina Nguluwe to keep the contest alive heading into the interval.
Civo restored their two-goal cushion in the 71st minute when Meneni Kapasule found the net to make it 3-1.
Ireen Khumalo pulled another goal back for Silver Strikers and set up a tense finish, but the hosts were unable to find an equaliser as Civo held on for all three points.
The result leaves the title race finely balanced, with Civo Service Women, Silver Strikers Ladies and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women level on points and separated only by goal difference.
For Civo, the victory represented a significant statement against one of their closest rivals and maintained momentum in an increasingly competitive championship battle.
