WAV Festival is bringing more local talent to the stage as it prepares to return to Cape Town and make its Pretoria debut in January 2027, with Mafikizolo, Lordkez, WizTheMc and several other acts joining international headliners Ty Dolla $ign and KWN.
The festival, presented by Africa Creative Agency (ACA), will take place in Cape Town on January 2, 2027, before heading to Pretoria on January 3, 2027, offering music fans two days of R&B, African sounds and international influences.
The announcement follows a taste of what audiences can expect from the festival, with WAW hosting the afterparty at the recent Content Creator Awards. The DJ sets were packed with R&B hits, with many guests singing along to familiar favourites, setting the tone for the music-driven experience WAV hopes to deliver in January.
Mafikizolo lead Cape Town line-up
Returning to Cape Town on Saturday, January 2, WAV will feature legendary South African duo Mafikizolo, whose catalogue spans generations of music lovers.
They will be joined by Lordkez, WizTheMc, Lusanda, Thando Zide and Xowie, adding a mix of established and emerging talent to the line-up.
The Cape Town event will also feature DJ sets from TXC and Juls, with DJ Loyd and Sir Vincent bringing additional sounds to the summer festival.
With its blend of R&B, African music and global influences, the line-up reflects the different sounds shaping contemporary music, while giving local artists a platform alongside international performers.
WAV heads to Pretoria for the first time
On Sunday, January 3, WAV will make its Pretoria debut at SunBet Arena.
International headliners Ty Dolla $ign and KWN will lead the Pretoria bill, joined by Lordkez, Lusanda and Xowie.
The move into Pretoria marks an expansion for the festival, which has built its identity around bringing international R&B acts together with South African musicians and DJs.
While the two cities will feature different line-ups, the festival's broader focus remains on the intersection of music, fashion and culture, with R&B serving as the thread connecting the performances.
