Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi has shared his thoughts on Juventus’ difficult season, identifying the club’s frequent changes of formation as one of the factors contributing to their struggles in Turin.
Luciano Spalletti was expected to have settled on a preferred tactical approach after spending time experimenting with different systems last season. The manager made several adjustments in search of the right balance for his squad, hoping to establish a structure that would bring greater consistency to the team.
However, Juventus have continued to switch formations since the beginning of the current campaign. Their efforts to find a reliable system have also been complicated by a persistent injury crisis, leaving Spalletti with limited options when selecting his starting eleven.
Juventus continue to struggle with consistency
The Bianconeri have suffered numerous injuries this season, with fresh cases emerging every few weeks. Several players have remained unavailable for extended periods, preventing the club from restoring its squad to full strength and allowing the manager to work with his preferred group of players.
As a result, Juventus have been left with fewer options across the pitch, making it difficult to maintain the same formation and tactical approach from one match to the next. The situation has added to their difficulties as they attempt to find consistency and improve their performances.
Frequent changes may be understandable when injuries force a manager to adapt, but they can also make it harder for players to develop familiarity with their roles. Spalletti must therefore balance the need to respond to absences with the importance of establishing a recognisable style of play.

Bergomi questions Juventus’ tactical changes
Bergomi has now weighed in on the situation, suggesting that Juventus’ repeated adjustments to their playing system are not helping the team at present. Speaking via Calciomercato, the Inter Milan icon assessed their performance and highlighted the tactical approach used during the match.
” They didn’t have a good game. They struggled in the first half , but they broke the deadlock right away, but after that I think that constantly changing playing systems doesn’t help you have time.
“Today we had a 3-5-2 with McKennie’s position being a bit unusual as he switched between them, but it’s basically a 3-5-2.”
His comments underline the challenge facing Spalletti as he tries to bring stability to Juventus. While injuries continue to limit his choices, establishing a consistent formation could help the available players develop better understanding and improve the team’s overall performances.
For now, Juventus must find a way to manage their absences while building greater tactical continuity.
