Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman today (13 October) said that an initiative is underway to prevent people aged over 35 from becoming lawyers.
"I have asked to start an initiative to close the path to becoming a lawyer after the age of 35. A decision has already been made on this," he said, addressing an internship programme for law students, jointly organised by the Attorney General's Office and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), at the Supreme Court Auditorium.
Addressing the interns, Asaduzzaman said the programme aimed to help them learn from everyday experiences.
He described education as the sum of experiences gained from the cradle to the grave, adding that their work at the Attorney General's Office would provide valuable practical learning.
The event marked the completion of the programme's second batch and the reception of interns for the third batch.
Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kazal also spoke at the event, along with Barrister Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Stephen Rodriques, UNDP resident representative in Bangladesh; and Nicolas Weeks, Swedish ambassador to Bangladesh.
