SUWON — Gyeonggi Province said it found 54 violations at surveying firms and agencies authorized to conduct performance tests on surveying equipment in the province.
The province said on the 20th that it inspected 1,006 surveying firms and related operators from July through September.
The most common violation was delayed performance testing of surveying equipment. Such cases totaled 33, or 61% of all violations.
Late reporting of changes to registered information, including business locations and technical staff, accounted for 17 cases. Two firms failed to meet registration requirements for technical personnel, and two others committed different violations.
The inspection checked whether firms had properly secured and maintained the registration requirements for surveying businesses. It also examined whether firms had reported changes to registered information and whether they had conducted performance tests on their equipment.
Gyeonggi Province plans to pursue administrative action against the firms under relevant laws.
Firms that failed to meet registration standards for technical personnel will face revocation of their registration. Those that reported changes late or delayed equipment performance tests will be fined.
The province is paying particular attention to the repeated delays in performance testing. The same type of violation keeps occurring even though the province sends advance text message reminders.
In response, Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen its guidance on performance testing and expand follow-up management of firms that miss testing deadlines.
Violations related to administrative procedures, meanwhile, have been declining. The combined violation rate for late change reports and failure to meet technical personnel requirements fell to 1.9% in 2026 from 2.1% in 2025 and 3.4% in 2024.
The province believes regular inspections and administrative penalties have had some effect in reducing violations.
"Regular inspections are reducing violations of administrative procedures," said Kang Byung-kyu, head of Gyeonggi Province's cadastral resurvey team. "We will also strengthen management of performance testing to build a trustworthy surveying environment."
