Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer celebrated Club Brugge’s Champions League victory at Inter’s San Siro and thanked his former club’s supporters for the warm welcome on his return.
The former Nerazzurri goalkeeper shared his reaction on Instagram after coming back to the stadium as a Club Brugge player. The Belgian side’s win over Inter gave the occasion a particular edge, but Sommer’s message also acknowledged the reception he received from the home crowd.
The result was a defeat for Inter on their own ground; Club Brugge’s win at San Siro provided the backdrop to a post centred on the return itself, rather than a detailed account of the match.
Sommer reflects on his San Siro return
FcInterNews reported that Sommer posted the message on his social-media account after the Champions League fixture. In it, he described the night as a spectacular one at San Siro, said he was happy to be back and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome.

He also thanked the Inter supporters directly. The note was brief, but it recognised the connection between the goalkeeper and the supporters of the club he had played for.
For Inter followers, the evening brought together two sides of Sommer’s return: he was back at San Siro in the opposition goal, while the welcome from the stands remained a point he chose to acknowledge after the result. His message focused on that reception as well as the occasion’s Champions League setting.
Sommer’s post did not add further comment on the match or his former club. Instead, he left Inter supporters with a straightforward expression of thanks, marking a return that ended with Club Brugge celebrating a win at the stadium he once called home.
