Latin America has a diverse esports landscape, from Brazil’s Counter-Strike teams to League of Legends competitions and South American Dota 2 lineups. Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Peru also contribute players, fans and local communities. As competitive gaming grows, digital entertainment options, including a demo slot, form part of the wider online landscape. However, esports viewership and betting activity measure different things.
CS2: Brazil and the wider regional scene
Counter-Strike 2 leads the global esports betting market. According to Sharpr’s 2025 report, based on data from the Kambi network across more than 50 operators in regulated markets, CS2 accounted for 57% of measured esports betting handle. This figure reflects the report’s sample, not the behavior of every esports fan.
Brazil has a strong international presence through organizations such as FURIA, paiN Gaming and MIBR. Yet the regional community extends well beyond one country, with fans and players across Spanish-speaking South America following international tournaments.
Viewing data also highlights Brazil’s reach. Brazilian Portuguese accounted for 14.18% of hours watched across selected S-tier Counter-Strike tournaments from January to May 2026. This measures viewing time by language, not unique viewers or the size of Latin America’s entire audience.
Key factors behind CS2’s regional presence include:
Brazilian teams competing on the international stage.
Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking fan communities.
Global tournaments connecting local audiences with international competition.
League of Legends accounted for 27.3% of global esports betting handle in Sharpr’s 2025 report. In its Latin American sample, the game represented 39%, highlighting its regional significance without capturing every market equally.
Brazil’s CBLOL demonstrates the scale local competition can reach. The 2026 CBLOL Cup final peaked at 443,217 concurrent viewers, while the later Split 1 final peaked at 160,943. These figures show how tournament formats and matchups can influence audience size.
Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru and other Spanish-speaking markets contribute to Latin America’s League of Legends community. Beyond the competitions themselves, the esports ecosystem includes betting services, with 1xBet operating within a market shaped by country-specific regulations. Riot Games’ 2026 Americas structure has also reshaped regional competition.
Dota 2 accounted for 7.7% of measured esports betting handle in 2025, down from 10.5% in 2024 and 14% in 2023, according to Sharpr. A declining share does not necessarily mean an equivalent drop in viewership or absolute betting volume.
South America has an established Dota 2 community, with players and teams from Peru and Brazil appearing in international competition. Its regional position is best assessed through tournament participation, audience engagement and competitive continuity, not betting figures alone.
Mobile access and local regulations
Smartphones help fans follow match schedules, check results and watch tournament coverage wherever they are. Mobile platforms, including the 1xBet apk, are part of the wider conversation about accessing online entertainment on mobile devices. Actual service availability depends on local laws and platform restrictions.
Latin America does not have a single regulatory framework for betting. Brazil’s federal authorization regime took effect in January 2025, but Provisional Measure No. 1,394, issued on 25 September 2026, subsequently prohibited the operation, offering, intermediation and advertising of fixed-odds betting lotteries nationwide, including sports bets and online games. The measure’s legal status and implementation should be checked before publication, as court challenges may affect its application. Other countries maintain their own rules.
A sound regional assessment separates three factors:
Audience reach: concurrent viewers, viewing hours and unique viewers are not interchangeable.
Betting activity: operator data does not represent the entire esports audience.
National regulation: legal access and commercial opportunities vary by jurisdiction.
What the numbers reveal about Latin America
Latin America is a network of connected but distinct esports communities. Brazil has a strong Portuguese-language presence, while Spanish-speaking markets contribute audiences and competitors across several titles. CS2, League of Legends and Dota 2 each have different competitive histories and audience patterns.
For businesses and publishers, the key is to assess audience reach, betting activity and regulation separately. A popular tournament does not prove that betting participation has increased, just as a game’s falling betting share does not necessarily mean its community is shrinking. Understanding Latin America requires country-specific evidence and a clear distinction between esports popularity and the betting market.
