Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 officially launches tomorrow on Netflix, and while the show features a new cast, it also includes one familiar face: veteran game designer Hideo Kojima, who'll cameo as Hideyoshi Oshima in the series.
In Cyberpunk 2077, Oshima plays a braindance producer from Tokyo who wants to create BD experiences that are emotionally resonant with viewers, rather than the more salacious media that made the technology so popular. Modeled after and voiced by Kojima, Oshima pops up in the Konpeki Plaza during the "Heist" mission. Later in the game, players can also find a Bridge Baby Pod Easter egg, a reference to his game Death Stranding.
Beyond the cameo (and bit parts in Zootopia 2), Kojima is pretty busy right now. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was released last year, and his next Xbox projects include a new take on horror in the form of OD and the action-espionage game Physint, which stars Bill Skarsgard as the protagonist.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 premieres on Netflix starting on October 20, with a 10-episode block of Night City adventures featuring a quartet of new characters. A big-screen movie adaptation is also in development, while work continues on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, Cyberpunk 2.
