Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s Dhaka University unit will observe a campus cleaning day every Saturday after the ongoing Durga Puja vacation to promote cleanliness, environmental protection and greenery.
The programme will be conducted under the slogans “Green & Clean Campus First” and “Develop the Habit of Cleanliness, Build a Vibrant Campus”.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, the initiative forms part of the organisation’s efforts to promote environmental conservation, cleanliness and greenery on campus and support similar changes across the country.
DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon approved the programme on Saturday.
The organisation said the initiative aimed to help realise the vision of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the organisational guardian of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), for promoting greenery, protecting the environment and improving cleanliness.
Under the programme, leaders and activists at all levels of the DU unit, including its hall units, will voluntarily conduct special cleaning drives in different parts of the campus.
They will also take initiatives to raise awareness, encourage participation and involve university teachers, students, officers and employees in activities focused on greenery, environmental protection and cleanliness.
The unit has instructed its leaders and activists to remain active in spreading awareness of these issues, beginning with their own families and extending their efforts to fellow students, acquaintances and other members of the campus community.
The weekly programme is intended to establish regular voluntary cleaning activities at Dhaka University after the Durga Puja vacation. Through campus-wide participation and awareness initiatives, the organisation aims to promote a cleaner environment and greater attention to greenery.
