Former Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has described the passing of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, as the end of an era.
In a statement on Thursday, Oyinlola described the late centenarian as a father figure to Yorubaland and a Nigerian nationalist whose death had deprived the nation of the wisdom and protective presence of a patriotic elder.

He commiserated with Fasoranti’s family, the government and people of Ondo State, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Fasoranti died on Tuesday, October 20, aged 100. Born on May 11, 1926, he was an educationist and a prominent disciple of Chief Obafemi Awolowo whose political ideals shaped his decades of public service.
He served as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under Governor Adekunle Ajasin between 1979 and 1983, and remained a leading voice in Yoruba affairs through Afenifere.
