He congratulated the anti-narcotics teams from central agencies and police forces in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur for carrying out the operation.
The crackdown is part of the Centre’s efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating along India’s northeastern borders. The region’s proximity to Myanmar and Bangladesh has made cross-border coordination an important part of efforts to curb the illegal drug trade.
Shah said the operation reflected the government’s commitment to eliminating drug networks by December 31, 2029. He added that the coordinated action had dealt a blow to the alleged trafficking network.
In a separate incident, Dhing police in Assam arrested a man allegedly found in possession of a pistol and two live rounds of ammunition.
Further details about the arrest were not immediately available. There was also no immediate information to suggest that the case was linked to Operation Trident.
