Turkey has condemned the Yemeni Houthis’ renewed targeting of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and called for an immediate halt to the attacks.
Al Jazeera reported early Monday, October 12, that Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia in a statement.
According to the report, the ministry said the attacks deliberately target civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians, constituting a clear violation of international law and the principles of international humanitarian law.
Turkey said such attacks threaten regional security and stability and “must stop immediately.”
Ankara also reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This comes after Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a trilateral defense pact in August. Under the agreement, an attack on any of the three countries is considered an attack on its allies.
