The Meta CEO has been ridiculed for his beer drinking technique on Stripe co-founder John Collison’s podcast, but Zuckerberg said “that’s just my face.”
Don’t drink on the job, because your boss might see. And if you are the boss, don’t drink on the job, because the internet might see.
That’s the lesson to take from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s recent podcast interview with Stripe co-founder John Collison, which saw Zuckerberg roundly mocked for his Guinness-drinking technique.

Zuckerberg joined Meta’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang for the latest episode of Cheeky Pint podcast, in which the Irish payments technology billionaire interviews leading entrepreneurs.
Nestled in a mock Irish pub — itself constructed within Stripe’s San Francisco headquarters — Zuckerberg, Wang, and Collison spent two hours discussing Meta’s Muse agent and the company’s focus on AI.
But their deep dive into AI training benchmarks, model development, and team-building has been overshadowed by Zuckerberg’s seeming distaste for the Guinness beer on offer.

Early in the interview, which was filmed and uploaded to YouTube, Zuckerberg appeared to recoil after taking a sip.
Footage of that moment has since gone viral on X, with commenters suggesting Zuckerberg was, at the very least, uncomfortable with his beverage.
Zuckerberg slowly sipped his beer for the next hour, with Wang keeping pace. Collison cleared his pint within the first 40 minutes, and feasibly could have finished far sooner.
The beers were replaced after a cut in filming, with Zuckerberg only making a dent in the second pint by the podcast’s conclusion.
Perhaps sensing he should not drastically overtake his guest, Collison slowed down. Wang, however, appeared quite pleased with the second pint, and nearly drained it by the time filming stopped.
Zuckerberg himself has since responded to the brewing social media interest, telling one X user, “that’s just my face”.
Famously, this is not the first time Zuckerberg has been captured with a beer in his hand during an interview.
In a clip recorded during Facebook’s very earliest days, when it still went by The Facebook, Zuckerberg started an interview by asking if he should put down his beer.
The interviewer’s answer was no, as it added to Zuck’s fratty, scrappy persona — but something tells us it wasn’t a Guinness in that cup.
