Dell has just launched the newest version of its Dell 14S laptop. Earlier this year, the company released the Dell 14S DS14260 in May, which used Intel Panther Lake processors. In September, Dell introduced the Dell 14S DS14270 with updated Wildcat Lake chips.
Dell originally planned to launch the updated Dell 14S in the fall for the Northern Hemisphere. At that time, the company did not share pricing details. However, it did confirm that the Dell 14S DS14270 would use the same Core 5 320 and Core 7 350 processors found in the more affordable XPS 13, which we reviewed earlier this year (currently $839 on Amazon).
The company has now begun selling its new 14-inch laptop worldwide without any prior announcement. In the US, the DS14270 starts at $649, making it more than 50% cheaper than the DS14260. Prices in other regions are AUD 1,271.60 in Australia, CAD 899.99 in Canada, €821 in the Eurozone, and £721.20 in the UK.
Part of the $750 price difference is because the DS14270 has half the RAM and storage of the DS14260. The Dell 14S DS14270 starts with 256 GB of PCIe Gen 3 storage and 8 GB of LPDDR5x-7467 RAM in single-channel mode.
Dell also offers versions of the laptop with 512 GB or 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSDs and 16 GB of RAM, though these still use single-channel mode. You can also choose an 1800p IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 450 nits of brightness instead of the standard 1200p, 60 Hz, 300-nit screen.
Every version of the laptop comes with a 3-cell, 61.2 Wh battery, which helps keep the weight at 1.15 kg. Reports say the battery can last up to 21 hours when streaming Netflix at 150 nits on a 1200p display. For more information, visit Dell’s website.
