(ANSA) - ROME, 23 OTT - The narrow alleyways of Old Delhi, the modern skyline of Mumbai, the lush landscapes of Rajasthan: for the first time in its 53-year history, the Pirelli Calendar 2027 features India as its backdrop.
Brimming with color, contrast, beauty, and vitality, this unique edition bears the signatures of two photographers: S›lve Sundsb›—who also contributed to last year's calendar—and Avani Rai, a photographer who followed in her father's footsteps.
Her father, Raghu Rai—a master of Indian photography—passed away in late April, just months after accepting the commission to shoot the 2027 calendar. The concept was subsequently adapted to ensure that India remained the central protagonist—a choice perhaps also influenced by political and economic considerations; indeed, yesterday in New Delhi, Pirelli announced an agreement with the Indian company BKT to produce 800,000 premium tires by 2030.
