North Korean leader Kim Jong Un appeared in photographs released by state media on Tuesday after online claims that he had died from a brain haemorrhage.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim visited a "consumer goods exhibition featuring clothing and footwear" on Monday, says Anadolu Ajansi.
Photographs published by state media showed Kim touring the exhibition alongside his daughter, Ju Ae, and "party and government officials".
The reports followed social media posts shared on Sunday by Xie Wanjun, who identifies as the chairman of the banned China Democracy Party and lives in the United States.
Xie alleged that Kim had suffered a "severe cerebral hemorrhage and fallen into a coma". He claimed the North Korean leader had been transferred to Peking Union Medical College Hospital in China due to "the poor medical conditions in North Korea".
Xie further claimed that Kim had died and that authorities had "secretly transported" his body back to North Korea while "concealing news of his death".
North Korean state media routinely publishes reports and photographs of Kim's activities, but the country's "limited access to information makes it difficult to independently verify reports about the country's leadership".
Kim, who is "believed to be 42," is widely thought to have underlying health issues, although "his medical condition has not been publicly confirmed".
