Arch Manning is hoping to be the first third-generation NFL quarterback from the legendary Manning family, and he’s already tapping into the family moves.
Manning is currently with the Texas Longhorns and helped them achieve a big win against #7-ranked Ole Miss on Saturday night.
Perhaps no play of his had more impact on the game than his fourth-quarter TD to give the Longhorns the lead they held on to earn a win.
Arch Manning scores identical touchdown to Peyton Manning from his Broncos days
During the fourth quarter, Arch Manning and the Longhorns were just a few yards away from the end zone.
Rather than an intricate play, Manning faked the handoff to calmly bring the ball into the end zone himself.
One fan noticed how similar this play was to one that his uncle, Peyton Manning, once ran with the Denver Broncos against the Dallas Cowboys.
Understandably, many fans were quick to point out how similar the plays were, with many suggesting that the play was a Manning Dynasty special.
One conflicted fan simply wrote: “As a die-hard Cowboys and Longhorns fan, I can’t explain how this touchdown made me feel.”
Another fan joked: “That’s the Uncle Peyton special.”
A third fan joked that the commentator saw the Texans QB channelling his uncle: “Herbstreit absolutely called that live on air.”
A fourth fan suggested that the origin of Peyton’s play was during his college days: “Show the real highlight – Uncle Peyton doing at Tennessee vs. Alabama.”
A fifth fan added: “A Manning on a bootleg is pure football comedy gold. Best QB bit?”
And lastly, one final fan in attendance shared a similar family story: “No joke I turned to my grandpa in the stadium when this happened and told him about Peyton doing it.”
Manning has shown similar flashes of brilliance from the quarterback position that fans have become accustomed to seeing from the Manning dynasty members.
While he didn’t have a perfect game against Ole Miss, Manning delivered a performance that he desperately needed.
