Uzbekistan will gradually introduce artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into the expert review process for draft documents related to archival affairs and records management starting March 1, 2027. The announcement was made by Anvarjon Aliyev, head of the information service of the Uzarchive Agency, during a briefing at the Content Center.
According to Aliyev, AI technologies will be used to conduct preliminary document analysis, verify compliance with regulatory requirements and identify errors or shortcomings during the review process. The introduction of AI is intended to improve the speed and accuracy of document assessments rather than replace specialists responsible for conducting expert reviews.
The changes follow a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated October 10, 2026, which approved a unified administrative regulation governing the state service for expert reviews of draft documents related to archival affairs and records management. The regulation establishes specific procedures for reviewing documents, including processing deadlines, the responsibilities of participating parties and applicable service fees.
Under the new rules, organizations providing the service are prohibited from requesting additional documents or information beyond those specified in the regulation. The measures are intended to standardize the review process and establish uniform requirements for applicants and responsible authorities.
Applicants submitting documents through the online portal will be charged 90% of the prescribed service fee. The resolution also requires the service to become available through the portal within two months.
The online system must allow applicants to track the current stage of their applications and receive the results of expert reviews electronically. The introduction of AI-assisted document analysis in March 2027 will form part of the updated administrative procedures for reviewing archival and records management documents.
