Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) was caught off guard in Coronation Street earlier this month when she discovered that love interest Marco Rhodes (William Teasdale) had been arrested for his involvement in a robbery.
This wasn’t Marco’s first brush with the law, and his confession to Summer that he had a criminal record for drug use left her with a sour taste in her mouth.
However, she was able to move past his history and the pair grew closer.
Marco first caught Summer’s eye when he complimented her art, though she wasn’t best pleased when she later realised that he had torn out her design and was using it to advertise outside the tattoo parlour.
Eventually, they put their differences aside when Marco admitted to wanting to catch her attention, and they began discussing the possibility of Marco paying for more of Summer’s artwork.
Their conversation in the Rovers led to further dates and a kiss.
Everything changed when Summer learned that Marco had been involved in an accident while driving a getaway car, and the situation only got worse when he was denied bail.
In upcoming scenes, Summer is disheartened to learn that Marco has beensent straight to prison from remand after losing his case.
However, that isn’t the end of things, as far as Summer is concerned.
At the first possible opportunity, she visits Marco and promises him that she will stick by him as his appeal gets underway, and that he’ll be successful and be a free man before they know it.
Later, she tells Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) her plan to stand by Marco – but is she making the right decision?
