Celebrity Traitors is underway - and if there’s anyone we’re betting our money on to make it to the final, it’s Miranda Hart.
The Miranda star is one of several famous faces taking part in this season’s Celebrity Traitors, which is delivering shock banishments and memes galore.
Of course, it isn’t only Miranda's hilarious one liners that are winning over fans. Our recent episode saw an emotional moment when Miranda opened up to her fellow Celebrity Traitors contestants about her health battle - admitting that she had been taken aback by her own strength on the show.
‘Three or four years ago, due to illness, I thought I may not ever walk around a park again,’ she shared, 'and now I find myself up in a Scottish Highland, wheelbarrowing along a very large head. It’s really exciting.’
It was a candid moment that struck a chord with fans of the comedian, who spent several years completely away from the public spotlight while she focused on her health. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts, one fan wrote, ‘I’m so proud of Miranda as a fellow chronically ill girlie.’ Another added, ‘Having her back on our screens looking so healthy and happy and full of joy is everything.’
Who is Miranda Hart? What has she said about her health? And is she married? Here’s everything you need to know about our Celebrity Traitors star.
Who is Miranda Hart?
Miranda Hart is a comedian, actor, and writer, best known for her hit BBC sitcom Miranda. She's also starring on season two of Celebrity Traitors, where she's currently a faithful.
Opening up about heading to the Scottish castle, Miranda shared, ‘I'm very excited. I also feel slightly like I'm having an out-of-body experience, like I'm on some sort of tour of The Traitors, not actually going to be in it. So now I’m nervous. I'm nervited - nervous, and excited. I love a compound word.'

How old is Miranda Hart and where is she from?
Miranda Katherine Hart Dyke was born on 14 December 1972, making her 53 years old (and an optimistic and adventurous Sagittarius.)
She was born in Devon to a Naval officer father, before being raised in Hampshire. She attended the private girls boarding school Downe House (where she classed sports presenter Clare Balding as her classmate and friend.)
What has Miranda been in? Inside her career
Having graduated from The University of West of England with a degree in political science, Miranda went on to study a postgraduate course in acting at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.
After performing a solo show in Edinburgh and pitching a BBC comedy in 2004, Miranda's career boomed in 2009, when she began production on her hit semi-autobiographical sitcom Miranda. Starring the likes of Sarah Hadland, Tom Ellis and Patricia Hodge, the show ran from 2009 to 2014.
In 2012, Miranda landed a role on BBC’s Call The Midwife, playing the character of Camilla ‘Chummy’ Fortescue-Cholmondeley-Browne.
What happened to Miranda Hart? Her health battle explained
Back in 2024, Miranda revealed she had been diagnosed with ME (Myalgic encephalomyelitis, or chronic fatigue), which left her 'bedbound and without joy.'
Even at the peak of her career filming Miranda, she admitted that making it through each day was like 'wading through treacle.' However, things reached a head when Miranda was in her mid-40's, with the star unable to even leave her house for years. Saying she hit 'rock bottom' once Miranda wrapped in 2015, she explained, 'I didn't have a job. I didn't have a social life. I didn't have any responsibilities or identities.'
It was something she opened up about in her book, I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You, which saw her give a frank account of how her health affected the past 10 years of her life.
Miranda contracted the bacterial infection Lyme disease at 14 or 15 years of age after being bitten by a tic while she was in Virginia, USA. The symptoms of Lyme disease include a bullseye rash, fatigue, and a fever that usually develop between one and four weeks after a bite.
While the disease can be easily treated with a course of antibiotics if detected and diagnosed early, the actress did not realize at the time - leaving her facing years of feeling unwell, with no idea why.
Later in life, Miranda was diagnosed with Myalgic encephalomyelitis (more commonly known as chronic fatigue syndrome, or ME/CFS), although she shared that it took a long time to be diagnosed. Symptoms include 'extreme fatigue, post-exertional malaise (worsening after activity), unrefreshing sleep, and brain fog.'
For years, Miranda's health saw her confined to her home, feeling unable to leave the house. Talking to BBC Radio 4, she previously shared, 'Unless you've had fatigue [like that], you don't understand what literally not getting off the floor is. I was basically bedbound and housebound. There'd be times where I'd look at a glass of water and think, I don't know how to pick that up.'
She added, 'All anyone wants is to be heard, accepted, loved and seen... and when you're not - particularly in a medical situation - it's the worst.'
After receiving her chronic fatigue diagnosis, Miranda was able to trace the condition back to her teenage years. Opening up about understanding her Lyme disease, she shared, 'It was such a relief. I mean, being misunderstood and misjudged is one of the hardest things about these kind of conditions, for sure.'
Prior to appearing on Celebrity Traitors, Miranda admitted that she is still living with 'elements' of ME, which brings with it fatigue and pain. Saying she had reached a point where she feels 'well enough to step out,' Miranda shared, 'That's partly why I'm doing this [show.] The joy of mucking about on television again will hopefully outweigh some of the challenges. And I think it will be challenging on my body, so it'll be interesting, and it'll take some courage as this is a big next step.'

Is Miranda Hart married?
Her health wasn't the only update Miranda gave fans in her 2024 biography, with the star revealing she had secretly gotten married that summer.
In July 2024, Miranda married Richard Fairs, 60, who she met when he was hired to remove mould from her house sometime after the pandemic in 2020. She revealed how their first date was spent chatting in her living room while they waited for their pizzas to be delivered, laughing, 'Unfortunately mine had shunted its way across the box and turned into a calzone. I was going on and on about my shunted pizza and it did not seem to faze him. We had already been talking for about two hours at this point and I realised almost immediately that I was in love with him. It was our first date and to my surprise he came back for a second date, despite me having gone on and on about that pizza.'
Richard later proposed in London's Kew Gardens, with Miranda describing their relationship as being 'an extraordinary thing.' The pair went on to marry in summer of 2024 in Miranda's hometown of Hampshire, when the star was 51 years old.
