A Yorkshire bodybuilder has died after collapsing on stage at a competition in the West Midlands.
The Physical Culture Association (PCA) confirmed the death of 33-year-old bodybuilder Mateusz Chmura, from Wakefield, who was taking part in a competition at the Telford International Centre on Sunday (Oct 18).
A statement from the PCA said Mr Chmura collapsed on stage while competing in his category.
He was treated at the venue by paramedics, a local ambulance crew and the Midlands Air Ambulance team, but later died in hospital.
They added: “Our deepest condolences go to his wife, family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to the on-site medics, the trained medical professionals from the audience who stepped forward to assist, Midlands Air Ambulance and the hospital staff for everything they did for Mateusz.
“To everyone else who helped in any way, thank you. Your efforts will not be forgotten.”
The PCA also said it stopped the contest while Mr Chmura received medical treatment, before resuming following a meeting with athletes.
The statement added: “The event was stopped while Mateusz was treated. Once he had left the venue for hospital, and before news of his death was known, we held a meeting with the athletes, and the decision to resume was taken following that meeting.”
