- Pamzo is confident the law enforcers can pick maximum points against the free-scoring K’Ogalo who opened their title defence in style with a 4-2 win over Murang’a Seal on Tuesday.
APS Bomet head coach Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo has fired
a warning shot at Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia as the two sides
prepare to lock horns at Raila Odinga Stadium this Saturday.
Pamzo is confident the law enforcers can pick
maximum points against the free-scoring K’Ogalo who opened their title defence
in style with a 4-2 win over Murang’a Seal on Tuesday.
Training has hit top-gear ahead of the showdown
scheduled to kick off from 4:15pm.
“Every team always goes for the three points
whenever they play a match and we will bo going for the maximum points on
Saturday. We’ve had great training sessions focusing on the areas we
underperformed against Mathare,” said Pamzo.
“We are going to play at home and we have to give a
good account of ourselves,” Pamzo added.
Pamzo is however aware of the tough contest that
awaits from the reigning champions and is calling on his charges to be
vigilant.
“We are aware of the kind of opponent we are
meeting. They have very experienced players and they attack so well and we have
to be very careful in all departments.”
APS-Bomet will have to do without key
centre-back Edward Mazembe, as the Ugandan sustained a knock against Mathare
United.
Pamzo says Mazembe will be a huge miss for the home
side but they will have to find a replacement before Saturday.
“Unfortunately we’ve lost Mazembe to an injury and
he performs a huge role in the defence. He is going to be a huge miss for us.”
The former Harambee Stars defender added that they
have worked on their attack after a drab 0-0 draw in their opening fixture
against Mathare United.
Pamzo will be looking to exploit spaces Gor leave
behind when they attack full-throttle.
“Gor Mahia is very good in attacking and we have to
be very good in our defense organization. At the same time, we should find a
way of hurting them when they attack us on the break or even when they decide
to play a low block.”
