Urban Company has approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 2,500 crore through equity shares and convertible securities, including a qualified institutional placement (QIP), as the home services platform looks to strengthen its business and scale its operations.
In a stock exchange filing on October 16, the company said its board had approved raising funds through one or more routes, including a preferential allotment, private placement and QIP.
The proposed fundraise is subject to shareholder approval and other regulatory clearances. The company is yet to finalise the terms of the issue.
The fundraise is expected to support the expansion of its InstaHelp segment, which faces growing competition from rivals such as Snabbit and Pronto.
The capital could help Urban Company scale the business, acquire more customers and increase marketing spends as players compete to capture a larger share of the instant domestic help market.
The board also approved the company's unaudited financial results for the quarter and half year ended September 2026.
Urban Company's consolidated operating revenue rose 41% year-on-year to Rs 527 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 380 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal year. However, its net loss widened to Rs 182.5 crore from Rs 59.3 crore a year ago.
For the first half of FY27, the company's operating revenue increased 42.6% to Rs 1,065.6 crore from Rs 747.3 crore in the year-ago period. Its net loss widened to Rs 274.6 crore from Rs 52.4 crore in H1 FY26.
Urban Company operates an online marketplace that connects customers with professionals offering services such as cleaning, beauty, repairs and other household needs. It also sells products under its Native brand and runs InstaHelp, which focuses on daily cleaning and housekeeping services.
