The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, Hon. Adamu Kamale, on Sunday, paid courtesy visit to the Kafwo Debeghi Development Association in Abuja, where he received assurances of support from members of the Futu community ahead of the 2027 elections.
Blueprint.ng reports that the visit provided an opportunity for the community to express their concerns and developmental challenges.
They appealed to the candidate to prioritise the needs of the people if elected into office.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Joel Liba, assured Hon. Kamale that the Futu community was ready to identify with any candidate committed to bringing meaningful progress and sustainable development to the area.
He emphasised that the community was looking forward to leadership that would address its longstanding challenges and improve the living conditions of its people.
Mr. Liba noted that despite its contributions to society, the Futu community continued to face several developmental challenges that required urgent government attention.
He particularly highlighted the lack of reliable all-season road access, especially along the route connecting the community to Michika town.
According to him, the poor state of the road had continued to create difficulties for residents, traders, farmers, and other road users, thereby limiting economic activities and access to essential services.
He stressed that the provision of a good road network would significantly improve transportation, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, enhance commercial activities.
The Association Chairman also identified affordable and accessible education as another pressing need of the community.
He explained that improving educational opportunities would give children and young people a better chance to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the development of their community and society at large.
In addition, Mr. Liba called for improved access to clean and safe drinking water, accessible healthcare facilities, and adequate maternal healthcare services.
He observed that these basic amenities were essential to the health, well-being, and overall development of the people, particularly women, children, and vulnerable members of the community.
He further appealed for the creation of employment opportunities, improved agricultural support, youth and women’s empowerment programmes, and the provision of essential social amenities.
He maintained that agriculture remained an important source of livelihood for many residents and that adequate support for farmers through improved farming resources, modern agricultural practices, and other relevant interventions would help boost productivity and improve household incomes.
Mr. Liba lamented that these important needs had been neglected over the years, leaving the community with persistent difficulties in accessing basic infrastructure and opportunities for economic advancement.
He therefore urged Hon. Kamale to take the concerns seriously and work towards addressing them if elected in 2027.
He expressed the hope that the proposed Galadima/Kamale administration would adopt an inclusive approach to governance, ensuring that rural communities such as Futu received the attention and development they deserved.
Responding, Hon. Adamu Kamale expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Kafwo Debeghi Development Association for the warm reception and the confidence they had shown in him. He acknowledged the importance of engaging directly with communities to understand their challenges and identify practical ways of addressing them.
Hon. Kamale pledged to provide the necessary support to the Futu community if elected in the 2027 elections. He assured the people that their concerns would receive attention, particularly in areas relating to infrastructure, education, healthcare, access to clean water, agriculture, employment, and community development.
The APC deputy governorship candidate stated that he had a good understanding of the Futu community and its developmental needs, adding that his familiarity with the area placed him in a position to appreciate the challenges confronting its people. He expressed confidence that, if given the opportunity to serve, he would work towards promoting the interests and welfare of the community.
Hon. Kamale further declared that the victory of the Galadima/Kamale ticket in the 2027 elections would be a shared victory for all supporters and communities, including the people of Futu. He emphasised the importance of collective participation and cooperation in achieving the desired political and developmental objectives.
He called on the community to remain united and supportive of the political process, assuring them that their expectations and concerns would remain important considerations in his commitment to public service.
