Christmas spirit is spreading across the Costa Blanca as local entertainers, businesses and residents join forces to make sure children in care have a present to open this festive season. The Give A Child Christmas appeal is collecting gifts for youngsters aged three to 18, with collection points now open across the region and fundraising events planned throughout November and December.
Christmas appeal collects gifts for children in care
With Christmas just around the corner on the Costa Blanca, local entertainers, businesses and residents are joining forces in a bid to ensure children in care have presents waiting for them this festive season.
The Give A Child Christmas appeal, led by Chris O’Leary and entertainer Nikki Nock, is collecting new gifts for youngsters aged three to 18 at Elche Children’s Care Home and the San Jose Obrero Orphanage.
The aim is simple: to make sure every child receives something to unwrap on Christmas Day.
You can help by donating a new, wrapped present, clearly labelled for a boy or girl and showing the appropriate age range.
Collection points open across the Costa Blanca
Official collection points have now opened across the Costa Blanca, in a bid to get communities and residents involved.
Gifts can be left at Jonsons Supermarket & Cafe, La Finca; Restaurante Carmen’s, El Chaparral; Mari Bar, Torreta Three; The Hideaway Beachfront Bar, Torrevieja; Misol Bar or Quesada Tech Shop, Quesada; Budget Burners, San Fulgencio; No Grow Grass on the Cabo Roig Strip, next to Bella Furniture Store; and Platform 1 Bar, Guardamar del Segura.
The network of collection points gives residents across several Costa Blanca communities the opportunity to contribute a present without having to travel far.
Roadshows and raffle boost Christmas fundraising
The campaign will also feature Naughty & Nock roadshows throughout November and December, with live entertainment to encourage further donations.
A raffle and handmade bracelet initiative will raise additional funds, with organisers pledging every cent towards presents or gift vouchers for the children.
The raffle will be drawn live on December 12.
With collection points, entertainment and fundraising all supporting the campaign, organisers hope communities across the Costa Blanca will get behind the appeal and help make Christmas Day a little more special for youngsters in care.
