A man died after allegedly being attacked by another person at Daimukhia in Doomdooma, Tinsukia district, during the Durga Puja celebrations. The incident took place on the night of October 18 at Daimukhia No. 2 Line, under the jurisdiction of Bagjan Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Ajay Tanti. According to local reports, Suraj Tanti, who reportedly lives in the same locality, allegedly attacked Ajay while he was sleeping at home, leaving him seriously injured.
Ajay was reportedly kept at home throughout the following day without receiving medical treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to a hospital on October 20. However, he died, reportedly due to the lack of access to advanced medical care.
The reason behind the alleged attack remains unclear. Residents have claimed that Suraj was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the attack and the police investigation are awaited.
