A magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state, Thursday sentenced a 30-year-old woman, Afisu Kafayat, to three months in prison for housebreaking and stealing.
Kafayat was arraigned alongside her 14-year-old daughter, Mutmainat, for unlawfully entering the residence of one Lamidi Waliyat in the Pako area of Ilobu.
The police prosecutor, Adepoju Kayode, told the court that the duo stole two 25-litre kegs and three 5-litre kegs of palm oil, with a total estimated value of N104,000.
He said the offense was committed on October 20, 2026, and contravened sections 516, 414, and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
Upon arraignment, both defendants pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, housebreaking, and stealing preferred against them by the police.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Ibukun Adeniran convicted Kafayat and sentenced her to three months imprisonment.
However, taking the minor’s age into consideration, the magistrate cautioned and discharged her 14-year-old daughter, Mutmainat.
