The Elamakkara police took a woman into custody for allegedly murdering her husband, a native of Odisha, whose body was found on railway tracks near Edappally on Saturday (October 17).
The investigators suspect that the woman allegedly bludgeoned the man to death after he attempted to harass the children from her first marriage and reportedly dumped his body on the tracks in an attempt to make it appear as a railway accident, police sources said.
According to the first information report (FIR), the body was spotted on the railway tracks around 1.20 a.m. on Saturday by the loco pilot of the Amritha Express, who reported it to the police.
The police initially registered a case over unnatural death, and further investigation led to suspicions about the possibility of murder and the role of the wife, according to sources.
