James Morrison has taken responsibility for Toby Collyer’s hamstring injury after the West Brom midfielder was forced off during their comeback win over Blackburn.
Collyer was making his third start in eight days and had to be taken off before half-time of the 3-2 win.
Morrison admitted afterwards that he should have listened to medical advice and rotated the midfielder.
“That’s probably put a bit of a downer on the result,” Morrison said.
“He’s just picked up a little hamstring injury. But that’s on me, really, I should’ve listened.
“Obviously playing three games a week was a big ask.”
Morrison explained that he had planned to manage Collyer’s minutes but conceded he should have started Ousmane Diakite instead.
“In my head I was trying to get him an hour, or 45 minutes, because of how they dealt with the six,” he said.
“But when you see Oussie play like that – I should’ve played him.
“But when you’re out the team and you come back in with the bit between your teeth and he certainly had that today.”
