KUALA LUMPUR: Kuching City were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Hong Kong's Kitchee SC in their Asian Champions League Two (ACL2) Group H clash at Taha Ariffin Stadium today.
The hosts could not have dreamed of a better start, capitalising on a defensive mistake just two minutes into the match.
Under early pressure from Kuching's frontline, Kitchee goalkeeper Pong Cheuk Hei inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to gift the home side the lead.
However, the Hong Kong side hit back in the 14th minute.
Veteran forward Everton Camargo showed his class once again, finding space inside the penalty area before slotting home the equaliser.
Despite both sides trading chances in an end-to-end contest, neither could find a winner.
The result leaves Kuching still searching for their first victory after collecting just one point from two matches, level with South Korea's Gangwon FC at the bottom of Group H.
Kitchee have two points from back-to-back draws, while Cambodian champions Phnom Penh Crown FC remain top of the group with six points.
