Police said the crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Beacon Hill, when one RCMP vehicle struck another police vehicle travelling ahead of it.
According to RCMP, the lead vehicle had been carrying a passenger when a medical emergency prompted the officer behind the wheel to pull over and attempt a safe stop in order to assist. A second RCMP vehicle following behind then collided with the rear of the slowing police vehicle.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
