“I welcome you to this briefing on the successful arrest of two suspects in connection with the suspected theft and vandalism of railway sleeper clips at Kanwa Village, Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State,” he said.
He said the suspects were identified as Shamsu Isyaku, 25, of Kanwa Village, Madobi, who was alleged to be the principal suspect, and Shehu Yakubu, 40, of Kanwa Yamma, Madobi LGA, who was suspected of involvement in the purchase and receipt of stolen railway materials.
“During the operation, 50 railway sleeper clips were recovered from the suspects. Meanwhile, one Saleh Kanwa, who is also linked to the case, is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him,” Agalama said.
According to him, the command had commenced further investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify other individuals who might be connected to the crime.
“Investigations are also being intensified to recover the remaining 205 missing railway sleeper clips,” the commandant added.
He said the command, under his leadership, remained committed to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, particularly railway facilities, which are essential to national development, transportation and economic growth.
“We will not relent in our efforts to bring individuals involved in the vandalism, theft and illegal trade in public infrastructure materials to justice.”
While warning members of the public against buying, receiving or trading in stolen railway materials, Agalama said anyone caught risked facing the full consequences of the law.
He commended the operatives involved in the operation for their vigilance and dedication, urging the public to continue supporting the corps by providing credible and timely information that could assist in identifying criminals and safeguarding public infrastructure within their communities.
He said the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect and recover the outstanding railway materials.
