Derek McInnes’ Rangers side will welcome St. Johnstone to Ibrox tomorrow afternoon, as they look to right the wrongs from last weekend’s frustrating draw with Dundee at Dens Park.
Rangers came from behind against Dundee to lead 2-1, thanks to a thunderous strike from Nico Raskin, before conceding an equaliser just nine minutes later, which ended their extensive winning run. However, the ‘Gers remain unbeaten in all competitions since August 27th.
Meanwhile, St. Johnstone have got off to a strong start in the Premiership following their promotion last season. Simo Valakari’s side have won three, drawn three and lost three of their opening nine games, a record which has landed them fifth in the table, and five points off bottom spot.
The Saints’ most impressive win since their return to the top flight came two weeks ago on Sunday, when they took home all three points from Pittodrie with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen thanks to Josh Fowler’s first-half winner and some exceptional goalkeeping from 21-year-old Toby Steward, who prevented an xGOT of 1.24.
Ryan Naderi has been Rangers’ key man during this unbeaten run, stepping in to lead the line in the absence of Youssef Chermiti and marquee Summer signing Lawrence Shankland, who are both sidelined with injury. The newly capped Czech international has found the net four times so far this term, with two of those coming in back-to-back wins over arch-rivals Celtic. No doubt he’ll be eyeing up a fifth goal of the season tomorrow afternoon.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm BST on Saturday October 24th.
