Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and Home (Police) Minister Prestone Tynsong has urged the Voice of the People Party (VPP) to approach him directly over the delay in appointing a new Director General of Police (DGP), rather than raising the issue through the media.
Tynsong said the state government was following the prescribed procedures involving the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs for the appointment.
His remarks came after the VPP questioned the delay, citing a reminder issued by the UPSC on September 24, seeking the Meghalaya government’s proposal for the appointment of a new police chief.
