StandX is winding down its decentralized derivatives exchange, with trading restrictions starting on October 20 and a January 31, 2027 deadline for withdrawals and DUSD redemption requests. The shutdown also cancels plans for a native protocol token.
The timetable was announced on October 15, according to reports by DeFiprime and ForkLog. Yield accrual has already ended, leaving users with different deadlines for managing open trades, retrieving account balances and redeeming the platform's stablecoin.
Trading closes before the withdrawal window ends
From October 20, perpetuals trading will move to reduce-only mode: existing positions can be cut or closed, but traders cannot increase their exposure or open new positions. ForkLog reports that remaining positions will be forcibly closed on January 15, 2027.
That gives a trader who wants to choose an exit price an earlier decision than the final withdrawal deadline. Waiting until late January to deal with an account would mean allowing the platform to settle any position still open at the January 15 cutoff.
DeFiprime reports that this settlement will use the prevailing mark price, with outstanding orders cancelled. Mark-price settlement is a platform process; it does not promise the price a trader might have obtained by closing earlier.
Reducing a derivatives position and withdrawing the remaining balance are separate operations. Closing exposure removes the trade, while retrieving the proceeds still depends on completing the platform's withdrawal process. Our guide to perpetual futures funding explains why an open position also carries obligations beyond its entry price.
DUSD holders face a separate redemption decision
The January 31 cutoff covers both withdrawals and requests to redeem DUSD. DeFiprime reports that users need to move assets from their Perps Wallet to their Cash Wallet before withdrawing on chain. A holder seeking USDT must also request DUSD redemption before the deadline.
The distinction matters because taking a token out of an exchange account is not necessarily the same as converting it into the asset the holder ultimately wants. A completed withdrawal can leave the user holding DUSD outside StandX.
StandX also plans to remove its DUSD liquidity from PancakeSwap and Raydium on January 31, according to DeFiprime. That removes another potential exit route supplied by the project; it does not establish how much liquidity other participants will leave available.
Our stablecoin peg explainer describes how redemption access and secondary-market trading interact. In a shutdown, the availability and timing of those routes matter as much as the token's target value.
Token plans give way to a final distribution
ForkLog reports that StandX will replace its proposed token launch with a one-time DUSD airdrop funded by remaining project revenue and an additional team contribution. Claims are scheduled for November 1 through December 31, 2026.
An expected distribution is distinct from money already held in a trading account. Users should not confuse the claim period with the later deadline for retrieving existing balances.
The announced schedule establishes the intended wind-down. It does not independently demonstrate that every withdrawal will complete as planned, or establish insolvency or a security breach. The immediate change for users is concrete: yield has stopped, new exposure ends next week, and trading settlement arrives more than two weeks before the final withdrawal cutoff.
