In Week 5, Buffalo got arguably its biggest win of the season, a Monday night overtime victory over the Rams in L.A. As for Baltimore, it beat the Falcons in Atlanta in overtime without Lamar Jackson. The Chiefs had a bye. History on Their Side: Since Patrick Mahomes became the Chiefs full-time starter in 2018, Kansas City has started 4-0 five times, including this season. Each of the previous four starts ended with at least an AFC Championship Game appearance. The Chiefs reached that round in 2018, won the Super Bowl in 2019 and returned to the Super Bowl in both 2020 and 2024. Can Mahomes turn another unbeaten start into a deep postseason run? Jacksonville Juju: The Jaguars are still flying under the radar, likely because they are in the same conference as the above-mentioned teams. But Jacksonville is fourth on this oddsboard and coming off a comeback win over the Eagles in London. Luckily for the Rams, their schedule is about to ease up, after facing San Francisco (loss), the Giants (win), Denver (loss), Philadelphia (win) and Buffalo (loss) in the first five weeks. They get Arizona, Las Vegas, the Chargers, Washington and Arizona again over the next five weeks. As for the new leader on the oddsboard, the Niners can't be stopped. They are 5-0 with wins over the Rams and Broncos, and a shootout win over Seattle in the Pacific Northwest in Week 5. History Favors the 49ers: In each of their four previous seasons with at least a 4-0 start, the 49ers reached the NFC Championship Game or better. They won the Super Bowl in 1984, reached the conference title game in 1990 and made Super Bowl appearances in 2019 and 2023. Analyzing The NFC North: After the three NFC West teams at the top of the board, all four NFC North teams make up spots four through seven, led by the 5-0 Vikings. Minnesota already has two division wins, over Green Bay and Chicago, but its other three wins are not all that impressive: Tampa Bay, Miami and New Orleans. Those three squads are a combined 2-13. As for the rest of the division, each team is 3-2. The Packers have won two in a row, the Bears are still dealing with the absence of Caleb Williams and just got blown out at Green Bay, and the Lions have won two of three with Green Bay and Minnesota up next.
