After shots were fired at Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai, Eknath Shinde has promised strict action against those responsible. The Maharashtra leader also invoked the city's crackdown on gang wars in the 1990s.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has vowed strict action against those responsible for the firing at actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai, warning that no gang would be spared if found involved in the incident.
Calling the firing a serious matter, Shinde said the Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra government had taken the incident seriously and would work to ensure the safety of citizens and celebrities.
"I have spoken to Mumbai Police. The entire police team will look for them," Shinde said, adding that whoever was behind the firing would face action.
He also invoked Mumbai's crackdown on gang wars in the 1990s, when the police acted against gangs accused of spreading fear in the city.
'GANGS WILL NOT BE SPARED'
Shinde said the police would first establish who was responsible for the firing and who was behind it before taking action.
"Who has done it? The police will find out first. Mumbai Police will find out who has taken responsibility and who is behind it," he said.
He added that neither the Mumbai Police nor the Maharashtra government would spare those found responsible.
"Our priority is the safety of the people," Shinde said, promising strong steps to prevent such incidents from continuing.
SHINDE RECALLS MUMBAI'S CRACKDOWN ON GANG WARS
Referring to the gang wars of the 1990s, Shinde said Mumbai Police had acted against criminal gangs during that period to stop them from spreading terror.
He said the police would take similar action now to protect citizens and celebrities.
Shinde also referred to previous incidents in which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had been named, including the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and the firing outside actor Salman Khan's residence.
He questioned why such incidents continued despite alleged gang members being in custody and said the situation had gone beyond acceptable limits.
However, Shinde maintained that investigators would first establish who was behind the firing at Tiger Shroff's vehicle.
TIGER SHROFF SAFE AFTER FIRING
Three rounds were reportedly fired at Tiger Shroff's BMW in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday. The actor was returning home after playing a football match when the incident took place.
Tiger escaped unhurt, while his driver was admitted to Nanavati Hospital. Police cordoned off the area and formed 12 teams to track down those responsible.
A social media post attributed to gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, who are based abroad, claimed responsibility for the firing in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi group.
Police have not confirmed the authenticity of the post or the group's alleged involvement in the incident. The investigation is underway.
