Vanderbilt soccer clinched the SEC regular-season title with a 5-0 win over Texas on Oct. 23 at Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.
The No. 1 Commodores (15-0-1) could also become the first SEC team to ever finish the regular season undefeated since conference play began in 1993.
Reigning SEC Forward of the Year Sydney Watts scored her 15th goal of the season, a tally that is second in the SEC to Oklahoma's Kayla Keefer. Vanderbilt out-shot Texas, 18-5.
Wins over Alabama and Tennessee highlight the Commodores' regular season. Vanderbilt is coming off a run to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament as well as an SEC tournament title in 2025.
The Commodores are technically regular-season champions for the first time ever. Vanderbilt has SEC titles from 1993 and 1994; both came in an era where only SEC tournament titles were awarded. The Commodores did finish with the best record in SEC play in both years, albeit with just two conference games in 1993 and four in 1994.
Vanderbilt has won four SEC tournament titles.
