Pakistan has accepted an invitation to participate in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament, scheduled to take place in Malaysia in November 2026.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani said the tournament would provide national players with valuable international experience and help improve their skills and performance.
Meanwhile, the PHF has also confirmed that Pakistan will host Canada’s hockey team for a bilateral series in Islamabad from February 8 to 21, 2027.
Wani welcomed the upcoming visit, calling it an important step toward reviving international hockey in Pakistan and strengthening sporting relations between the two countries.
The federation will work with the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and relevant authorities to arrange accommodation, transportation, sports facilities, and security for the visiting team.
The series will also provide players and officials from both countries with opportunities to gain international experience and exchange knowledge.
Pakistan’s Under-21 hockey team is currently in Malaysia to participate in the Sultan of Johor Cup.
The PHF is also working on a development plan for the Under-18, Under-21, senior men’s, and women’s teams, focusing on better coaching, training facilities, and international exposure.
The federation also plans to improve financial incentives and support for players while creating more opportunities for young talent to join the senior national team.
Wani said efforts would continue to bring international hockey competitions back to Pakistan and improve the performance of national players.
