- Young people have been urged to shun drug abuse and engage in productive activities.
Residents of Saku Constituency in Marsabit County have received training on mental health and psychosocial support to help them cope with economic challenges, drought and insecurity.
Young people have also been urged to shun drug abuse and instead engage in productive activities that can improve their livelihoods.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Habiba Muhamed, a mental health specialist from the Centre for Law, called on young people to avoid substance abuse and pursue meaningful activities that would enable them to build better lives and achieve their goals.
She emphasised the need to increase mental health awareness and expand access to mental health services to help young people and the wider community cope with mental health challenges.
Meanwhile, David Macharia, a psychologist in the Office of the County Commissioner, said many people experiencing psychological distress do not come forward to seek counselling and professional support.
The initiative seeks to strengthen community resilience, promote peace and enhance mental health awareness in Saku and Marsabit County at large.
