Ukraine launched a major drone assault toward Moscow, with Russian officials reporting 630 drones heading toward the capital. The attacks injured three people across Moscow and the Lipetsk region. They also damaged residential buildings and a medical facility in Lipetsk, regional authorities said.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said drones approached the capital between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The reported attack period ran from 8:30pm on October 21 to 4am on October 22. Russian air defence forces intercepted many drones before they reached the city.

Sobyanin said air defence forces also destroyed 163 drones near Moscow. Russian officials described the assault as one of the largest attacks targeting the capital this year. However, Sobyanin recalled an even larger attack on September 19.
According to Sobyanin, Russian air defences destroyed more than 1,600 drones during the September assault. Around 450 of those drones headed toward Moscow. The latest attack injured two people near Voronovo, in Moscow’s southwestern administrative district.
Meanwhile, the Lipetsk region reported further damage and injuries. Regional Governor Igor Artamonov said drones struck detached houses and multi-storey residential buildings. One man, born in 2001, suffered injuries and received hospital treatment.

Artamonov also reported damage to a polyclinic building caused by falling drone debris. He said the medical facility was closed during the incident, and nobody was inside. Authorities did not report any injuries at the clinic.

Russian officials said air defences intercepted numerous drones, although some caused injuries and property damage. The available statements did not provide further details about the extent of the damage or Ukraine’s intended targets.
