The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the income tax return filing deadline for Tax Year 2026 from October 15 to October 31, 2026. According to the regulator’s latest notification, the extension applies to taxpayers whose original filing deadline was September 30 and whose deadline had previously been extended to October 15.
The FBR said the decision was made in response to requests from trade bodies and tax bar associations. So far, 6.9 million tax returns have been filed. This year’s filing process has faced several technical issues, including slowdowns, glitches, and problems with the IRIS portal, which affected taxpayers’ ability to submit their returns.
