Bulgarian Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov has called on his Romanian and Turkish counterparts to take joint action to strengthen surveillance and intelligence sharing between the three countries and NATO structures. During telephone conversations with Romanian Minister of National Defence Radu Miruță and Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler, he discussed the security situation in the Black Sea region following incidents overnight in which two commercial vessels were struck, the press centre of the Ministry of Defence reported.
“The situation in the Black Sea is becoming increasingly complex and requires us, as allies, to step up coordinated action. Ensuring security and freedom of navigation in the region is in our common interest and is our shared responsibility,” the minister said. He added that only through effective information sharing, enhanced surveillance and close coordination would it be possible to respond to growing risks and safeguard security in the Black Sea.
