Curt Cignetti had an incredible streak of having his Indiana Hoosiers squad protect the football. However, that incredible feat came to an end during the No. 5 Hoosiers’ clash with the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.
Cignetti has achieved remarkable success with the program, elevating them to elite status. He coached them to the mountaintop last season, winning the national championship game after beating the Miami Hurricanes.
Indiana hopes to get back to the throne, rolling off six straight wins to start the season. While both sides of the ball have excelled, it can’t all be perfect. That became the case when they committed their first fumble since the 2025 opener, per reporter Nicole Auerbach. When it comes to scrimmage plays, Indiana avoided fumbling the ball for 1,437 scrimmage plays. It was the longest streak among every team in FBS football, which the Fox broadcast revealed.

“That’s the first time Indiana has lost a fumble since the 2025 season-opener,” Auerbach wrote.
