According to a contemporary, Prof. Timothy Wangusa interned at the BBC sometime between 1974 and 1976. Although the internet has no record of this internship, Wangusa was indeed pursuing postgraduate studies at the University of Leeds at the time.
It was at the BBC, according to his contemporary, that Wangusa revealed himself to be fleet-footed on the dance floor. His inspiration was Fred Astaire, a 20th-century icon widely hailed as the greatest popular-music dancer in cinematic history. Astaire revolutionised the musical film genre through his grace, rhythm and innovative approach to choreography and camera work.
Wangusa, like Astaire, also had a flair for singing. It is this innate musicality that informs his poetic sensibility. This selection of poems takes that gift even further.
