The Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy includes Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018), each with the additional content from its expanded editions. These three games aren't part of the original Tomb Raider series, which began in 1996 and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Instead, they form a reboot trilogy that tells a standalone story. The full bundle normally costs $71.98 on Steam. However, a 90% discount brings the price down to $7.17. According to SteamDB, its all-time low is $6.98, although that was reached before a price increase.
The so-called Origins trilogy tells the story of how a young Lara Croft becomes the legendary tomb raider. Her journey begins on the mysterious Japanese island of Yamatai, takes her to the snowy wilderness of Siberia and concludes in the Peruvian jungle, where she must prevent an impending Mayan apocalypse. In terms of gameplay, all three titles follow the familiar Tomb Raider formula, combining exploration, climbing sequences, gunfights and puzzles.

The reboot trilogy has been well received by both players and critics. On Metacritic, the PC versions of Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider both have a Metascore of 86, while Shadow of the Tomb Raider sits at 77. The games deliver the familiar Tomb Raider experience, although they aren't without their weaknesses. Common criticisms include repetitive combat and a highly linear structure. The third installment also faced criticism for introducing too few meaningful gameplay improvements and having issues with its combat system. Still, anyone who has missed out on Lara Croft's modern trilogy can hardly go wrong at just $7 instead of $70. All three games are also Steam Deck Verified.

As a child in the 90s, my Gameboy was my steady companion. After school, the PlayStation was fired up. When I finally got my first PC, I was completely hooked. My passion for gaming has never waned since. For me, writing for Notebookcheck means reporting on topics that are really close to my heart - in addition to gaming, I also like to write about e-mobility, photovoltaics and innovative gadgets. When I'm not sitting at my computer, I'm probably on water rescue duty on the Baltic coast or trying to counteract the downsides of my geek life - namely sitting for long periods - at the local swimming pool.
