Saudi Arabia’s Saudia and Riyadh Air have announced additional flights to Pakistan to help passengers stranded after the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh disrupted air travel.
Riyadh Air will operate additional flights on October 21 and 22, connecting Jeddah with Lahore and Islamabad. Saudia has also announced two extra flights to Pakistan, serving Peshawar and Islamabad.
The first is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, while the date of the second flight will be announced later. Riyadh Air said passengers whose flights were canceled because of the ongoing disruption can use the additional services.
Travelers holding tickets with other airlines may also be eligible, subject to seat availability. Passengers can visit the airline’s official website for further information and booking arrangements.
Pakistan’s Consul General Mustafa Rabbani told Urdu News that the Jeddah Consulate has been providing assistance and guidance to Pakistanis stranded following the airport closure. He said the consulate and Pakistan’s embassy helped Saudia transport stranded Pakistani passengers from Riyadh to Jeddah by road, where the airline arranged accommodation and food.
As seats became available, passengers were accommodated on flights. Saudia’s two additional flights are expected to provide further options for Pakistanis affected by the disruption.
