Award-winning broadcaster Leanne Manas has dismissed online rumours that she has resigned from the SABC, reassuring viewers that she remains part of the public broadcaster and the Morning Live team.
Taking to her official Facebook page, Manas addressed the speculation, confirming that she had not left the SABC and would be returning to screens after a week off.
“Hi all! Not going to waste too much time on the fake news doing the rounds about me, but just to clear things up… I have absolutely NOT resigned from the SABC! I’m very much still part of the public broadcaster and will be back on your screens tomorrow after a beautiful week off,” she wrote.
The "Morning Live" anchor also warned followers about fake TikTok accounts impersonating her, making it clear that she does not have an active presence on the platform.
“And while I’m at it, every TikTok account claiming to be me is FAKE. I have never posted a single thing on that platform,” she added.
Leanne Manas addresses fake social media accounts
During her return to Morning Live on Monday, October 19, 2026, Manas also addressed the misinformation circulating online, reassuring viewers that she was still at work.
“Before we dive into today's trending topics, I want to address some of the misinformation that's currently circulating online. Believe it or not, I actually am still at work. I'm right here as you see me.
“There are these fake social media accounts that are impersonating me and I am still here. I'm still part and very proudly so of the 'Morning Live' team. So please disregard any of those conflicting reports and unverified profiles,” she said during the broadcast.
Broadcaster warns of the dangers of fake news
Manas went on to express concern about the growing prevalence of fake news and social media accounts impersonating public figures, warning that the consequences of spreading misinformation should not be taken lightly.
“So many fake news accounts and accounts of individuals pretending to be others, the devastating effect it has is something we need to be very, very careful of. So these are the kind of things that are out there at the moment,” she said.
Her warning serves as a reminder for social media users to verify information before sharing it and to be cautious of unverified profiles claiming to represent public figures.
