Samsung Galaxy S24 stands out for its light 168g body and narrow design.
Google Pixel 9a offers strong camera features and a 5,100mAh battery.
Check current prices, seller reputation, warranty, and battery health before purchase.
A compact phone should be lightweight, easily slip into a pocket, and still deliver decent photography and battery life. Most phones under Rs. 40,000 feature large screens and heavy bodies. A few strike a better balance of size, speed, and price, while others only make sense during sales or through trusted refurbished sellers.
Motorola Edge 60 Neo
Motorola Edge 60 Neo has a 6.36-inch display, weighs 174.5 grams, and carries a 5,200mAh battery. At 71.24mm across, it’s a good match for anyone who likes a slim phone. The 120Hz display ensures smooth motion, and the telephoto camera gives more room for portraits and distant subjects. Wireless charging and IP69 protection add value.
Samsung Galaxy S24
Galaxy S24 is still one of the best compact Android phones. A 6.2-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz and a 168-gram body strike a balance between comfort and quality. The 70.6mm width supports one-hand use, and the telephoto camera and IP68 rating bring flagship value. Heavy users may find the 4,000mAh battery lacking. A price below Rs. 40,000 makes it worth considering.
Google Pixel 9a
Pixel 9a has a 6.3-inch OLED display at 120Hz and a 5,100mAh battery. Its cameras suit people who want clear family photos, good night shots and simple point-and-shoot results, and clean Android software with long update support adds to the appeal. Google’s official store price is Rs. 49,999. At 186 grams and 73.3mm wide, it’s less compact than Galaxy S24.
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE
Galaxy S24 FE has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz. A listed offer near Rs. 39,999 places it in the budget-friendly category. The camera system, wireless charging, and Samsung software features add value. It suits anyone who wants a large screen for videos, games, and daily tasks.
Apple iPhone 15
iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch OLED display and weighs 171 grams. With a strong processor and decent video quality, it opens the door to Apple’s iOS ecosystem. The compact body works well for travel and pockets, though the 60Hz screen feels less smooth than many 120Hz Android rivals. The older hardware also requires consideration, as many new models offer advanced technology. A sale or refurbished deal could bring it under Rs. 40,000.

Google Pixel 8a
Pixel 8a has a 6.1-inch OLED display at 120Hz. Photo quality, clean Android software, and a smaller screen than most phones at this price are its strengths. It suits buyers who want a camera-first Android phone without a large body. Since it's an older model, stock may vary. Buyers must check battery condition, software support, and whether the seller offers a new or refurbished unit before making the purchase.
Apple iPhone 16e
iPhone 16e pairs a 6.1-inch OLED display with Apple’s A18 chip. Speed is strong for apps, games, and daily use, and the iOS ecosystem gives it long-term appeal. A single rear camera offers less flexibility than phones with separate wide and telephoto lenses. At regular prices, it tends to sit above Rs. 40,000. A clearance sale or a trusted refurbished deal could make it a great fit for buyers who prefer iOS.
Samsung Galaxy S25
Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz. Compact size, a premium build, and a telephoto camera make it a strong pick for anyone who wants flagship features in a small body, with more performance headroom than most mid-range phones. Price is the problem, since new units usually cost well above Rs. 40,000. A refurbished or clearance unit might make the phone affordable, but battery health, repair history, and warranty terms need close attention.
Google Pixel 9
Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch OLED display and weighs 198 grams. Camera quality and clean software draw people who value photos and a simple Android experience, and wireless charging is a bonus. The weight makes it less comfortable than lighter compact phones, and its usual price is above the budget. A trusted refurbished unit or a strong clearance offer could be worth a closer look.
Samsung Galaxy A56 5G
Galaxy A56 5G has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz, with listed prices from Rs. 32,999 to Rs. 36,999, which leaves room in the budget. The large screen suits video, social media, and everyday tasks, and Samsung’s software support adds long-term value. At 6.7 inches, though, it falls outside the true compact category. It works best as a practical new-phone alternative for buyers who value retail warranty and a big screen over one-hand comfort.
