The Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh, hosted Oktoberfest 2026 in Dhaka on Saturday, bringing together diplomats, business leaders, BGCCI members, and representatives of the German and European communities to celebrate German culture and promote stronger bilateral ties.
German Ambassador H.E. Dr. Rüdiger Lotz attended the event as Chief Guest, while H.E. Michael Miller, Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh, joined as a distinguished guest. The gathering underscored the importance of cultural exchange, business networking, and continued cooperation between Bangladesh, Germany, and Europe.
In his welcome address, Md. Rokonuzzaman, FCA, President of BGCCI, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening trade, investment, and business cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Lotz highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement in further deepening relations between the two countries.
The official inauguration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an unveiling ceremony, and the traditional German toast, “Prost!” Guests also enjoyed Bavarian-themed cultural performances presented by the Goethe-Institut team, followed by a networking reception and dinner.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Adnan Md. Iqbal, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, while Md. Farooque Khan, Senior Vice President of BGCCI, moderated the programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by K. Nagaraj, Co-Chairman of the Event.
Through Oktoberfest 2026, BGCCI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting German-Bangladeshi friendship, facilitating business-to-business engagement, and supporting stronger economic and institutional cooperation between the two countries. In collaboration with the German Embassy, the event demonstrated how cultural initiatives can complement commercial engagement and contribute to closer ties between the people and business communities of Bangladesh and Germany.
